Triumph Spitfire - front end rattles
| I rebuilt the front end of my 1980 spitfire last month. New bushings throughout, ball joints, tie rods, and brake pads.I soon thereafter started developing rattles.I tried several areas that I thought the rattles came from.Shocks, bushings, and wheel bearings.I then discovered they were the brake pads. All tries to cure the problem failed.New pins and clips also failed.I finaly cured the problem by cleaning the pin and clip area with brake cleaner, then brushing the area with plastic dip. The plastic dip dries non-hard and alowed full movement of the pads in relation to the pins. The cure was immediate and I have been running the "cure" for a month now with not the first rattle or side effects. |
