Triumph Spitfire - exchange gear box

Hi all:
Has anyone looked into a different gear box for the 1500? I know that the BMC boys have lots of gear box's to choose from ( Datuns, Toyotas , Ford etc) Is there not something we can fit ?? My box is great if I am driving it like Granny, but in a speed event, well thats another problem.
