Triumph Spitfire - 4 sync 3 rail gearbox gears

I have tryed to replace damaged 33th hub/21th rev/15th lay with 29th hub/17th rev/13th lay.I tryed rev.with top cover off, and it seamed to be ok with the good used set so I completed the assembley only to find it jamed up in 1st and rev,I disasembled the box and checked that the gears are as stated above.I had 1-4 but no rev,now I have no 1st or rev, have I done the right thing?, maybe something else? Would like to be sure about the gear set replacement,if you can help please e-mail me.
