Triumph Spitfire - 1976 spitfire- brake lights and turn signal not wo

I have just purchased a 1976 Spitfire with 64,000 miles. Everything works except : brake lights, turn signals, hazard flashing lights, horn, cigarete lighter. All other electrical things work....any ideas??

With the exception of the turn signals, sounds like everything not working is on the battery hot bus.(works with the key off). I assume that you have checked for blown fuses and loose connectors. Check fuses with an electric test meter or by swapping with a known good unit. It could still be bad even if the element is good. Also, check for any fusable links. They will be in close proximity to the battery or starter solenoid and will look like a short length of wire spliced into the main wire. It performs the same function as a fuse only handles higher current loads. Sometimes they will be blown while looking normal. The only way to check these is with a meter or test light. Get an electrical schematic and/or a wire diagram and start checking circuits. Tedious and time consuming but thats the the track to take. Fix any damage you find along the way or it will come back and haunt you. It sounds like your trouble is something simple though.Good luck.
