MG TD TF 1500 - Which gasket set

I am rebuilding my XPAG 1250 that has been sleeved and bored out to 1500. My Q is, do I buy the 1500 gasket set or what? I think the only difference between the two is the bore size. e.g. the cylinder head gasket. Or are there other differences?

I'm no expert...but believe XPAG has round water holes and XPEG is oval?
In your other post you mentioned after re-build (years ago) blown head gasket was "suspect"...maybe this is why?
I'm sure others that know much more than I will chime in.

Hi Don, the XPEG head gasket is not the same as the XPAG. The XPEG water holes, which are round like all TF and later TD, are about 3mm further out from the centerline of the block/head. My understanding is that you cannot use the XPEG head gasket on an XPAG block due to some restriction in the cooling water flow.

You always use a banana gasket unless you have a round block WITH a round head, then you use the round gasket.

Thanks for the replies. My understanding is that the early XPAG's had the oval water holes, mine has the round, same as the block. My Q was related to the bore size, the gasket that came off it was almost protruding into the bore area. The car is XPAG/TF/34556
