MG TD TF 1500 - Webber's meet in person.
| Just returned from the Midwest GOF in Michigan. What a great time we had and congratulations to the Michigan Chapter for puttind on and outstanding event. The best part was to finally meet some of the contributors to the web page. Dave Braun and I have so much in common, MG's, Skiing, Sailing, Aeroplanes and WW2. Finally got home in the 91 deg heat, car ran just fine. Dave got a reprive of 4 hrs crossing Lake Michigan on the Badger. But he has along way to go tonight. Watch for some pictures. Dave won longest drive, we won best preservation. |

| Webbers, as in this Web Site! Diane and I enjoyed meeting Colin and his lovely wife Jan. Colin and I may have a lot in common, but he truthfully sails bigger boats, skis with more abandon (and has the scars to go with!) and has brokered neater business deals than I can imagine. It was great hearing about his and Jan's experiences (she has a PhD in Statistics), swapping stories and hanging out. Colin's TF is totally original, and mechanically very well maintained. It is as much a time capsual as it is a great motoring car, and very deserving of the preservation award. I hope Colin considers attending the GOF in St. Charles, Il, next year. Our TD, Tommy, has been restored, and has been honored with third in class three years in a row at the GOF Central. I keep driving him, and then touching him up, but as he is a driver, the long distance award means much more to Diane and I. We traveled to Kalamazoo by way of Oshkosh (EAA Air Venture) and the Upper Penisula, so we racked up 1091 miles to GOF Central by meandering about. The trip across on the Badger was a cool reprive and a good rest, the temperature on land was at least 30 degress higher than on Lake Michigan. We left Kalamazoo at 5 AM driving very slow with a fellow TD traveller who had trouble driving much over 52 mph (tire balance and water pump). We parted company after a nice lunch near Appleton, WI and made it home in Minnesota by 8 PM (gained an hour in the time zone change) with a couple of food and rest stops. We needed to get back to support a couple of my clients, as well as Diane having an offer on the table for one of her clients. We agreed it was one of our most memorable GOFs. I'll have pictures on my Website in a day or so. A snap shot of Diane, Myself, Colin and Jan at the Gilmore Museum for the GOF car show. warmly, Dave
