MG TD TF 1500 - Water Pump - better than new?

What is the groups opinion on this one?

Very familure with "the concept" but not this maker.
I have been running a Bruno 6 vane (brass impeller) for over 10 years purchased from Mike Goodman (Goodman Motors in CA.)
I have been very happy with it, as well as the excellent service I recieved from Mike.
The pump arrived damaged and Mike was very quick to make things right.

I was specfically looking for a Bruno 10 years ago as a replacement as back then there was not a lot of nice things being reported about the "repops" being offered.
The cost on this is considerably less than going price for the Bruno (if you can find one).

IMHO: Given a choice between "repop" and this one ...I think I would give it a shot or at least strongly consider having an orginial rebuilt by this vendor.

Alex,
This is the first time I have seen a nylon impeller offered,, I don't know what they mean by "MODERN INTERGRAL-SHAFT BEARING, UNITIZED SEAL",, is the bearing actually part of the shaft?? And "RARE" pump?? I wonder if the grease fitting is there just for originality?
The parts that I really like are that it is Made in the US, and the fact that it has a two year UNLIMITED mileage REPLACEMENT warrenty,, that alone would make it worth trying,,,

If someone in the US is rebuilding these and the nylon impeller is an improvement, I am all for it.

We have to support anyone that is willing to invest the time to assist us in keeping our cars running.

I have a spare pump, or would order one of these to see. If anyone does get one. Please let us know your thoughts on it.

I asked the seller if the grease fitting was a functioning grease fitting. This is his reply.

Hello, The answer is yes and no. The grease fitting is an actual grease zerk that will accept grease but since we use sealed bearings, as opposed to a separate seal and bearing, there is no need to grease the bearings ever. If a power grease gun were used it might actually push past the bearings seal and cause a pre-mature failure of the seal. My recommendation is not to grease it. The bearings we use should last a good 6-10 years or more of normal road use. I hope this answers your question. Regards, John

So they tried to keep the original outer looks but are using a sealed bearing that should not need lubrication. Sounds reasonable. And sounds like they really are trying to improve this unit but keep it looking very stock. Great for the concourse group.

Since I am not in the need for a new rebuilt pump right now, I did ask the seller for contact information at a future date. Below is the response.

Do I remember that there was someone with a TA waterpump who repeatedly sent it to a Jag rebuilder in DE and had real isues? Perhaps in TTT2? Not casting any aspersions, just a dim memory.

I run a 6-vane bronze impeller in my water pump and it works quite well. Never had an overheating problem, and this is on the original radiator core!
