MG TD TF 1500 - twice
I have been working on my engine since I got the block back from the machine shop. I ended up needing a few more things done than I had anticipated. Although I enjoy working on it I do have a question. Is there anything that has to do with a rebuild that you don't end up doing at least twice? No matter how careful i think I am being I end up doing everything twice. It is quite frustrating at times. It does look nice though. I installed Brass freeze plugs that I got from Tom Lange and they were a perfect fit. I am very glad I chose to use them. I actually hated painting over them. It will be grea to have it back in the frame where it belongs. The more things I put back on the car the more room I have in the garage. Rob

Rob You are missing a step. For my work on the TD, it is three times.

| Hi Rob, don't be worry. The second time all goes better. I haven't heard from you since my last mail of 27.4.11! I add a pic of my engine with core plugs. First I polished them and later I covered them with clear varnish. Greetings Klaus

Hartof In your photo, it looks like they haven't been dimple in. You may want to google up some technical info, and don't trust some of the amateur mechanics on Youtube.

Klaus, It was so long before i finally got my motor back I had no progress to talk about. I like the brass plugs poloished but just decided to paint them instead. Rob

Jim, I dimpled them with a wooden stick of oak so that the surface did not crashed with hard edges. Arround the plugs I fitted silicone which is siutable up to 300 degrees Celsius. Klaus
