MG TD TF 1500 - Tube shock conversion

Hi all;
There is a fellow on ebay selling tube shock conversion kits for a pretty reasonable price ($300).
I would like to hear from those of you who have made this conversion. Is it worth the cost and effort? Is the ride better? Is the ride more comfortable?

More to the point, have any of you purchased a kit from the ebay guy? They look well made and the feedback is good.

I have not tried them personally Tom, but from what I have read, a good set of Armstrongs or Gerlings are actually pretty good shocks.

For that price, you can get a pair rebuilt. World Auto can also customize the shocks if you need different stiffness. Jeff even has made ones that are adjustable (not sure if he does that for T types)

Tom, I had Peter Caldwell of World Wide Auto rebuild my Armstrong's and their better than new. He charged me $107.00 each. Best move on my part. He'll tune the shocks to your liking and paint them also as you wish. After sending them to him, I got them back in two weeks and that was when I lived in South Carolina. PJ

I have them on the rear of my TF and on my MGA. I got them from Butch Smith a member of NAMGAR. I find the ride and handling very good.

peter does excellent work, they are guaranteed, the car stays original and i second what bruce says, they are good shocks. regards, tom

I've had two TD's, one with the Moss tube shock conversion and one with rebuilt original shocks. I could not tell the difference in the ride.
