MG TD TF 1500 - Trap For The Unwary
| Fellas I had fitted new floor boards to the TF I have under restoration and made the error of centralizing the floor boards prior to bolting them into the chassis. I am presently at the stage of confirming the fit up of the upholstery kit that I purchased. I have found the upholstered panels that install at the bottom of the chassis door frame havent sufficient clearance to fit between the bottom door frame metal panel and the floor board edge. The lesson is to install the boards firmly butted up to the transmission tunnel cover, ensure this provides a 6mm gap between the bottom door frame metal pillar and the floor board edge. I think I am still in trouble as with the floor boards installed access to secure the upholstered panel and the piping thru the "hide em" is very limited. Another learning curve may raise its head as I progress further along the path of restoration. |

| You can always make a new set (marine plywood). If you don't have the skills (sounds to me like you do), any good upholsterer can cut panels to the correct size. But I do admit, it shouldn't have been necessary. A new interior isn't on the horizon for me 'till I finish my PA. But I now know to watch for this on my TF. Thanks for the heads-up.
