MG TD TF 1500 - Tonneau Bar to seat back
| Having finally finished the dashboard and mounted all instruments and the center instrument panel, I now turn my attention to continuing work on the rest of the interior. Today's question. What type & size fasteners are used to connect the tonneau bar to the back of the seat? In looking through "Dave's Picture Library", I noticed that there were holes drilled (in the triangular patern) for the tonneau in the back board of the seat. Are there T-nuts on the other side? I would have thought that the tonneau would have been attached with dome head sheet metal or wood screws. (Another picture I wish I had taken during disassembly.) As always, thank you for the help. | I don't know if this helps. My TD was built in 1950 and the bar has 2 countersunk holes in each end. The seat is original and it was attached with #8x1/2" oval head (raised) steel, slotted wood screws. Same as the clips for the crank handle. Other years and types may be different. |
