MG TD TF 1500 - tired of being dogged by mg 'T' register

is anyone else tired of being dogged by the company trying to sell a "T" register. i'm going to send a note to the register that if this continues or happens next year, i am gone..i do not need to pay to be harassed, i got people who will do that for free!
anybody else still getting post cards? regards, tom

I have been receiving those cards all summer. I just toss them. Don't stress over small stuff. There have been other threads on this matter.
I still think the NEMGTR is a valuable club and resource and I NEVER want them to go away. I can forgive them this transgression.

I've been getting the cards and even got a phone call. I told the caller I did not approve of the way the Register had outsourced the directory and would not participate. So far, I've gotten nothing since....

I've been a member for many, many years, with a few years break until recently.

Frankly, while mildly annoying, I wouldn't quit just because of the directory hassle. If it makes you feel any better, I'm getting exactly the same mailings and emailings from the same directory company for the graduate school I attended. They are pretty easy to ignore along with all the other detritus I get in the mail and my email inbox.

However, I am finding that, for someone that lives too far away to physically participate in the club, it just isn't worth the membership fee. $50 per year for six TSO's that MIGHT contain some technical info of interest to me is not worthwhile. Times have changed, and technical information is much more available on the web now. FWIW, I am also a member of Jaguar Clubs of North America and for $50 per year I get the JCNA national magazine plus membership in my local club, along with its newsletter.

I already own the other publications that are offered to NEMGTR members, so beyond the TSO there really isn't much reason to belong.

Honestly, the only reason I rejoined recently, was to purchase the DVD of back issues so I could clean out my old TSO's (after hearing too often from the wife how they just take up space). I'm still restoring my TD and want keep them for the technical stuff. I expect I'm going to let my membership lapse again at the end of this run.

I did attend one GOF many years ago that was held in Texas, where I lived at the time. Knudson made it very clear that they considered themselves a New England club that allowed others to join, rather than a national club. Not that there's anything wrong with that, especially if it is communicated clearly, but it does rather make one feel a source of revenue rather than a member.

Nothing against the club or its members meant here. I'm sure there are some great people and they are making wonderful contributions and putting on some lovely events. The TSO is very well done for what it is, I just don't find it or the club particularly relevant for me.

I too have been dogged by these cards and phone calls. I don't understand why the powers that be in the register allow or encourage it. I assume that there is a good reason, such as helping to defray the costs of printing, mailing, etc.
As far as the value of the register; I enjoy getting the TSO and have enjoyed participating in a few GOF's in the past, and I applaud those that are actively trying to get us all together in spirit, if not in location! I think that it is also an advantage for us to have a club to lobby the parts industry on our behalf.
David, I am surprised by your experience...I have been a member for about 14 years or so, and I have found the opposite to be true. I only met Mr Knudson in passing a couple of times, but the feeling that I got from Charlie Searles (who does not hail from New England) and others on the board that I met was very welcoming. They made it clear to me that there are members, as well as officers from all over and that the name of the register (the New England part), is irrelevent. Why don't you give it another chance...I think that you will be very pleasantly surprised.
In the meantime, I will continue to throw away the annoying little tan cards!
