MG TD TF 1500 - tire purchase

I am going to replace the 24 year old Michelin tires on my TF with 48 spoke wire wheels. I just spent a few hours looking around at various websites like Coker, Tires Unlimited and Performance Plus. It occurs to me that if I found a Northeast supplier, I might save some shipping $s getting what I need to Vermont. From a cost perspective it looks like the Veredstein 165hr15's are a good middle of the road choice. The Michelins are twice the cost. I don't see myself driving more than 2000 road miles a year. Any thoughts on the choice and where to get them at the best price and shipping.

Try TireRack.com. I have used them and they are good. They ship tires to a local merchant or direct to you and the savings was great. On my Corvette, they saved me ove75 bucks per tire.

The Vredestein Sprint looks good on a T series car. Excellent tire. PJ

Tom,
I guess I should call Tire Rack. I have bought from them numerous times in the past but I couldn't navigate myself to this fitment on their website.

I think I used either tire size or Volkswagen to get the right size. Last time, they did not have a great selection. I see that Coker carries them also but not cheap.

tire rack carries Khumho tires. I bought a set of Hankook tires last year. It seems that there are still a couple of Asian manufacturers making our size for a very reasonable price. The Hankooks are fine. Certainly a big improvement over my 18 year old, dried out Dunlop SP20s.

I have Veredstein 155sr15's on our TF. Less that 1000 mi. so far, since April. They look good, ride and handle well.

If you go with the Vredestein tires - go with the Vredestein Sprint Classic rather than the Vredestein Sprint.

The Sprint Classic has, what seems to me, to be a more appropriate tread pattern for the older cars.

I just bought a set for my MGB - and plan to buy a set for the TF soon.
