MG TD TF 1500 - Thread size - TF shifting knob
Anyone out there know the size of the thread used (Whitworth?) on the gear shift? I'm trying to install an 'original' shift knob on the '55 TF I recently bought and - of course - over the years the threads have become damaged. I'd like to try and clean them up before I attach the 'new' knob. THANKS!!

Not Whitworth, they are British Standard Fine. I believe that it is 5/16 - 22 BFS. See the Chart, Standard Threads in the Other Tech Articles section of my web site at: http://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/ Cheers - Dave

8 X 1mm it is indeed. Short term memory loss on my part. Cheers - Dave
