MG TD TF 1500 - TF Top Bow Paint

As recently mentioned, TF top bows and side frames were painted a beige color with a slight pinkish tint to it. Is there a source for this color? Also, are the frames in the new Moss side curtain complete assembly of this color? PJ

PJ, A very difficult original color to match.
I think I used a rustoleum nutmeg satin color that seems to work. Actually a very good match to the buiscut color interior.

The UK Moss catalogue says the side panels and hood frame should be Tan. They quote CCHP1 as the colour. You can get it from them.

I painted mine the same colour as the instrument panel. Bronze CCDP1 and it turned out OK.

I've heard it said that VW's "Sand" is a similar colour.

I suspect Moss have taken the TC-TD colour and applied it to all T types.
Here is a photo of the original paint taken before my TF frames were re-covered.

TF hood and sidescreen colour.So many suppliers of MG get it wrong.

Thanks guys for your input. Matthew, I copied your photo, hope you don't mind. I know computer printouts can be flaky, but I know a guy who is a wiz on mixing paints, he's actually an artist and I'm going to give him a copy of your photo and a challenge. PJ

....the TF canvas top also had a slight pink tinge to it....

Top that was installed in the 60's (replacement I assume from dealer), original TD sidecurtains....Moss top material......

Yes, the original canvas also had a little hint of pink. More on the inside than the outside?

Look at my photo in post #1 of the thread "Moss top and side curtain". That is my painted metalwork. It was the best repro of the underlying original paint that my paint guy could come up with. I like it.

Tom, that's a nice color, looks very close to the original and more than likely, if the guy I'll give Matthews photo to can't come up with that color, It'll be a color close to yours. How about the Moss paint? Close, yes, no? Says custom formulated, I'm sure not for the TF though. PJ
