MG TD TF 1500 - TF Side Curtain Box
G/day Fellas Im accessing the resource tank yet again. All components of my TF Side Curtain Box are missing, wondering if anyone has dimensions, construction and fixing methods for this item. Seems there are details of the TD box available however I cant locate much information for the TF item. Appreciate if someone can assist. Thanks Graeme

G/day OK I managed to source a second hand set of the 4 sheet metal components that make up the TF curtain box. Prior to me installing them if anyone would benefit from drawings and images of the items contact me via Email and I will provide the information. The profile of the front and rear rails are quite complex and would require some sophisticated tooling to reproduce. Side rails are being fabricated here in Aus. Graeme

Graeme, if I knew your email address I'd ask you for a copy of the drawings and images. I'd be happy to post them on Ttalk along with the TD box. Bud

G'day Gents/Ladies Does anybody have drawings of the orginal size and shape of the 3 sections of the TF side curtain box floor? My car was totally unoriginal in this area. I managed to buy the three missing steel pieces of the box top perimeter. The rear steel piece has three captive nuts which I assume have screws that come through the rear plywood panel behind the fuel tank, is this correct? Cheers, Max TF 5663

Graeme did you ever make the drawings of the side curtain box components? Thanks Rick

Hi The side curtain box in my TF, which I have always assumed was original, is made of wood. It is the type of wood-ply that the floor boards are made of. There is a mid section secured by 4 screws that allows access to the differential, for oil checks/additions. If they were originally made of metal, I sure would like to know that. I believe the TD box was made of sheet metal. Tom '54 TF

The TF side curtain "box" was formed by a plywood door suspended about 3" over the rear area behind the seat. This door was framed with four metal pieces. The bottom of the side curtain box is very similar to the rear shelf of a TD. -David

Graeme, I've just finished installing mine in my car and have several photos that show how it goes together and the shape of some of the components. If you send me your email I'll send them to you directly. Andy

For what it's worth...I had the metal pieces ..wood was shot. I moved it "up" considerably, added resessed stainless steel "tubs" on either side of the rear end for spares, a one piece floor, and added a lock to it. Concoures ..."NO", but I have lots of room in there now, it does not leak (like the 3 piece did), and I don't have to consult the owners manual to get the side curtains in it. The only "down-side" was I had to move the hand crank from the back wall of tub. It would fit in the box, but I mounted it on top and use it to prop the door open instead of my head when moving the rain gear. I check the rear end fluid from bottom of the car.
