MG TD TF 1500 - TF interior mystery piece
| See attached photo of an original piece of green TF interior - the question is where does it go and is it 1 of 2? I haven't yet started the interior but found this piece and now wonder where it goes. As you can see, it has one small screw hole in the material. Thanks Rick

| Aaah, thats interesting. Had me scratching my head for a bit, then I noticed the top curved area was faded more than the rest. It covers a gap in the upholstery where there is the crank handle recess. See the attached pic of my original upholstery and you will see that my piece is missing!! Even the screw hole on yours lines up with my screw. I will have to fix that. Nice specimen there of unfaded original upholstery in the dull TF green (different to the bright apple green of TD's). And should there be two of them? With the handle covering the other side I can be sure that the bean counters specified one or a pair? Cheers, Mathew.

| My TF also had the green interior. There were two pieces opposite hand. Dan H. |

| Well, Mathew - Thank you for identifying the item - you are good - you can even identify things that your car doesn't even have! Any chance i could ask you to take and post a series of pictures of the rear upholstery? Left, center, right, low and high. That way I could get a great idea where all the screws and fasteners should go. I have lots of painted green cupped washers that went in various places and looking at your original Tf would be a big help. Thanks Rick |

| Question on original TF upholstery for Matthew Magilton, first- Thank you for the photo and sketch of your original red interior. Curious if you have a photo of the rear side interior panels - in the area where the rear side curtain goes in to the support socket? I am wondering if the side panel is alone at this point or is there also a continuos piece of piping (welting?) through this area, down the rear of the door opening, under the door and then back up through the (front) door strike area. Also the hidem strip on the rear interior side panels seems to head straight down to the floorboards at the bottom of the door (rear), rather than radius around the door bottom heading toward the front. Does a separate piece of hidem from under the door make a 'T" intersection with the aforementioned strip that heads straight down? Rick |

does this do you any good

| Rick, here is a pic of my original upholstery showing the lower hidem strip. The carpet obscures some of it, but basically it forms a T intersection here. The piping is continuous from the hood blocks, straight past the rear s/s slot, all the way around to the crash pad where the end is folded over. At the door lock it simply passes underneath. Colin, another nice photo and valuable reference, good work. Cheers, Matthew.

| Matthew, is that a piece of piping where the vinyl on the wheel arch meets the carpet? Dan H. |
| Dan Hanson |
| Dan, it looks like a strip of the material stitched to the carpet and folded back over. It does not have a core as other piping does. Matthew. |

| Matthew, Thank you so much for the photo - that shows exactly what I needed. I appreciate your time and effort. The Hidem on the panel below the door extends past the end until it hits the vertical hidem from the rear side panel. Rick |

| I am trying to finish a TF that Somone butchered. I need to know how the upholstery in the rear goes. How does the vinyl at the top of the rear go? I know how the top tack strip goes, but don't know how to cover the piece under that. |

| Where are you located in Vermont? I have TF that has a complete and mostly original interior that you can look at in Wilmington, VT. Contact me at redscirocco(at)hotmail if you like. I'm planning to be at the Hemmings cruise-in in Bennington on Thursday - depending on weather. Cheers, -Mike |
