MG TD TF 1500 - TF fender piping - 1 or 2 pieces?
| I seem to remember reading along the way that the fender piping on the TF was one piece from front to rear. Does it really make the 90 degree turn at the front of the rear fender and running board or is it two pieces with this junction being where it is cut. I know about the two smaller diameter short pieces on the grill. Thanks... John |

| There was an overlap join just under the door hinges. The body was lowered onto the rolling chassis with the rear guards already attached. My attached photo shows the remains of the original piping where it curves down to the bottom of the rear guard, the clean bit at the bottom-end is where the overlap from the front piping was. The core was hollow rubber tube and a short length of aluminium wire was threaded through the curve and the join as extra support and to stop the curve from snaking about. The 'pretzel' is the rubber tube on its own. I took this original piping off the car a few years ago when I resprayed the guards. Matthew.

| Matthew, thanks for the interesting piece of info. Think I will keep mine one piece. Did you re-pipe yours with one piece? John |

| Hi John, I did ours with one pc, as shown here- It gets a bit wrinkly tho'. I see the pic is only 35kb, hope it's decent. Al

| I did mine in two pieces using TV co-axial cable as the core. Hard to avoid the wrinkles on that curve with the thicker vinyl we have these days. Several cuts to the hidden flange are needed here. Matthew. |

| Don't forget the small piece between the side panels and the grille shell on both sides of the car. Have a good day! John |

| The small peices between the side panel and grille shell are a different diameter than the fender piping. Goto Bud Kruegers website for info and picture of this detail. |

| My understanding is that there is no piping between the grill shell and the side panels. The only thing there is the woven leather strap to isolate the two pieces of metal. Anyone with me there? Alex |

| Here ia a pic showing the factory piping on my car (the only piping I have not replaced). This one also shows up in some of the original publicity shots. The strap which isolates the grill shell from the side panel is a rubber strip. Matthew.
