MG TD TF 1500 - TF door strikes
| More questions - I've attached a photo illustrating the two door strikes on my TF-1500. I believe the one on the left is original and the other a replacement. The one on the left has raised lettering with a patent number, the words "SILENT TRAVEL", and a logo that may be "WB". The other has no lettering. First question - Am I correct - an original would be as shown on the left, with lettering? 2nd question - If, lettered, was there a left one and a right one, with the lettering orientated so it was not upside down? Are lettered replacements available? Thanks Rick

| The shape of the repro on the right is really different. Look at the striker bolt width/shape. You would likely have to change the lock as well. Originals often on ebay. Not sure about current repros- call Abingdon or Moss and have them look for lettering. No difference left or right. I built original lock sets for my TD with parts from several sources (traded beer, etc.) Is Mick Conde still around? He use to have some original stuff. George |
