MG TD TF 1500 - TF Dash Support
| The answer to this would be obvious if I wasn't trying to fit the dash alone without scratching it! Can anyone please tell me whether the centre bracket on the dash, "A" shown in the image, fixes to the hole "B" in the steel reinforcing bar or the hole "C" on the top of the scuttle where the mirror fits. Unfortunately I've just noticed that the captive nut in "B" has a broken stud in it and the nut itself rotates in its housing so it's going to be difficult to get at without dismantling the whole assembly. Thanks AJ

| Mate you are spot on with your assumptions, I have just been through the same process. The captive nut on my TF was damaged also, I rectified the problem by welding a new nut to a strip of 25 mm 10# steel.I then pop riveted the strip to the cross member where the original nut is located, could not weld in this area as the scuttle was finish coated. I dont know how viable this fix is with the dash in place I had the dash removed to install the new nut fixing strip. The MG pugilists might quake at the thought of using pop rivets however "necessity is the mother of invention". |
