MG TD TF 1500 - TF body tub removal
Hi all, I'm in the process of removing the tub off TF4887. The Q is I have undone 'all' nuts and bolts that I can locate but obviously I'm missing some. The front is OK, the two rear and all along the floorboards are removed, are there more on the tunnel towards the rear. Hope this makes sense. Don Walker, Adelaide Hills South Australia.

Have you removed the floorboards? -David

David, the floorboards are removed and everything else I can see, it seems as if there are bolts in the rear section I can't locate, or maybe I'm not lifting hard enough! The front section seems to lift OK. Don

There are two bolts in the back, one on each side. They are about 2 1/2" long. They are accessible in the far rear corners, they go through the rear sill to brackets on the frame. -David

Don Are you keeping pictures of the stripdown? I will be doing the same to TF5979 in the near future and may need some assistance or references when the time comes. Brian

| Here is a photo of the bolts David Sander is talking about. You can see the brackets that the wooden rail rests on. The bolts attach the rail to the brackets. AJ

So far I have removed 3 nuts and bolts on each side under the (removed) floorboards and the two long ones at the back. Does the rear tunnel have to be removed? As I said the front section is free. I have taken photos for when you do TF5979 Brian and if/when I finally have everything undone I can help others! Don.

Don, On my car the rear of the tunnel and the centre of the body tie bar are bolted to the crossmember underneath. I would suggest removing the tunnel. Tony.
