MG TD TF 1500 - TF Arrangement of Dash Lights

Can someone please advise the proper layout / arrangement of the 3 TF dashboard lights for an American model TF? Does the red one go in the midle with the green one to its left and the blue one to its right, or........... ? Looking at pictures on the web is no help because there is no consistancy.

Thanks very much!

I believe mine are correct:Red--ignition on the left closes to the driver, Green--low fuel in the center and Blue--turn-signal to the right.

I will be watching this one!
Mine are: (L>R) Blue/fuel Red/ing Green/turn signal.
Don't think they are correct.

My TF was (left to right) Blue Red Green as well

54TF. Blue-Red-Green. How do you have the choke & starter arranged? Mine is choke - left side, Starter - right side. I see in PJ's image it is the opposite. The WSM shows it as I have it but it is in a right hand drive model. Mine is left hand drive. The WSM talks about 'drivers side' when considering the turn signal and wiper switches but says nothing about the choke and starter switches being switched. John

Thanks all for the information. My TF (a left hand model) has choke on the right side, and starter left side.

Group,

While we are at this, does anyone have any recommendations on how best to reinstall the TF dash?

The dash is out of the car, and everything is out of it now. Is it best to reattach everything (i.e., put on the glove boxes, insert all instruments, center panel, etc.,) and then hook up the wires and then reinstall it all as one unit, or is there a better and easier way?

Many thanks!

This has come up a few times on this BBS!
WSM shows a RHD car, but in LHD Tach/Speedo were reversed. Don't recall if we ever figured out if "S" & "C" were also. Or, for that matter if "A" / "L" and turn & bright lights should be reversed!
My TF was backwards on Tach & Speedo for a couple years before I even noticed it. (Tach is now closest to driver).
MY choke is closest to driver & start nearer the key.
(Made sence to me so I left it like that)

Tom,
IMHO ("i.e." you described) Is the easiest way.
One thing that does make it easier is to leave the seats out.
I do have one "other" trick that helps... (at least it worked for me) ...disconnect your left leg! LOL
(Maybe not for everybody)

You mean this isn't to concours standards?
