MG TD TF 1500 - TF 1500 outlet for heater?

Gentlemen!

My TF (engine no XPEG 1292) has a plugged hole in the thermostat housing ( Se picture which is rotated 90 degrees to confuse us) just in fromt of the temp. sensor. There are two 3/4' size holes in the firewall right under the battery box telling me the car has had a heater at some time.

The thermostat housing seem to be original, and would anyone out there happen to know the thread size of the plug sitting here? I believe this would be a nice point to attach the heater tubing, and the add a fourth tube to the Y pipe?

thank you,

Jan

Jan That is for the heater. MG finally got it right and that is the proof that they knew where the water was hottest.

I believe both of those holes have the same thread, 1/8" BSPP.

Same as mine. The return has the old style shutoff. PJ

The outlet position.

Those holes look way to large for a 1/8 BSP - They are closer to 3/8 BSP (or even 5/8 – 18 standard SAE thread like the rest of the MGs). Cheers - Dave

If anybody out there has a Y tube with heater outlet with or without shut off valve they are willing to trade, please contact me off list !

As illustrated in my first post and here's another angle. PJ

This is what I have but whilst I believe it to be MG I do not know from which model it came,

The cast t-stat housing you have is factory. I have had taps put into my T-stat housing and branch pipe that mimic these orriginal parts. When I put in my heater, these tap locations will give me the hotest water and best circulation.

David that's straight off an MGB or MGA.

But I don't think it would fit an MG TF?

The XPEGs need the Y pipe. Not sure how the 1250s are set up. PJ
