MG TD TF 1500 - TD wiper motor outer fixing plate

Hi, I've found that I am missing the outer felt washer and fixing plate from my wiper motor. I did wonder what kept the water out of the hole around the shaft! I have found pictures of the plate in the archives, but I can't find a supplier who sells this item. Does anyone know a source for this? Thanks, Matt

Matt Davis

There should be a plate under the nuts that seals the wipershaft. This plate is missing.
The bottom of the windshield frame is on backwards. The tag is supposed to be on the inside.

Is this the part you are looking for? The one on my car is Chrome, and this one is black.

Hi, I know the lower frame member is on backwards (DPO), when I have time, i'll take it apart.

Rick - yes that is the part I am looking for, can't find it anywhere.

Send me an address offline and I will send you the part - just cover the postage when you get the part.

Matt,
Seems to be "DPO standard" on the windscreen plate.
I would have to say about 40% of the "T" cars I have seen are backwards ...mine included.

Just for the record:

The company "From the Frame Up" can supply all these parts.

The wiper mounting hardware can be found in the online catalog, in section "Electrical" under "Wiper":

I bought several items from them, and the service was excellent, with a convenient shipping service Spain.

Moss sells the entire mounting kit. I assume it is still available and complete.

So, is the bottom seal supposed to be on the inside?
Edward

Edward, the groove that retains the rubber seal is in the center of the (symmetric) bottom frame. The side with the holes for the patent plate should be on the inside. Bud
Bud Krueger

bud, i may be mistaken, but i think edward was asking since the seal is installed on the center line it can lay forward against the cowl or rearward tucked in towards the cockpit.
if that is what you are asking edward i used to have mine tucked rearward until i drove in my first heavy rain..it now is tucked to lay forward against the cowl. seems to funnel a LOT less water into the cockpit. regards, tom
