MG TD TF 1500 - TD Underdash Shield

Mike Davis started a thread for a TF Underdash Shield. Got me thinking. One comment was that it helps control the heat build up from the engine through the firewall and into the cab.
Moss sells a TD kit which is only the hardware and accessories and a template for the panels. You have to supply your own panels.
Looking for some advice from anyone who has been down this road before. Is it a worthwhile endeavor?

Mort; I started out with one but after several times attending to stuff under dash I just left it out. Difficult to get back in

Mort,
As mentioned in the other thread,, note where your knees are when you are getting in and out of the car and when you are driving comfortably,,check for any possible interferance with the shield, If you are short enough, if probably won't matter,,,,,

No problem with clearance, I'm 5'10ish. My car had the original shield in place. At restoration, I rebuit it, and modified to make it a little easier to remove. Definitely quiets and tidys things up. But a huge pain to remove to get to the wiring, back of the dash. Someone on the board had a neat split design some years ago.

George, tell us more about your underdash shield modification. I have never installed mine due to the "possible" need for access after my TD's restoration. I'd love to have my cake and eat it too!

YUP,,, Like it was said,,,

"If you are short enough, if probably won't matter,,,,,"
It is just something to check before you spend the time and effort in making one and installing it,,
.
I have no idea how tall Mort is,,,,

I'm 5'10" and knee clearance is not an issue. I'd also would like any information on the split design.

Per George:
