MG TD TF 1500 - TD Jack Alternative to the King Dick
Does anyone have a recommendation and source contact for a low-profile scissor jack? My King Dick original will not fit beneath the designated area at the "wishbone" between the front spring and wheel. It needs to be no more than about 5" for clearance. I need to augment my jack "collection" so that I can change a tire, etc while away from "home." Much obliged, Jerry

I think a Ford- Mustang jack, from a "Fox" body Mustang,('86-93), will work...It is small, and made to lift one side of a 3000# car...Check with junk yards, as these can be bought for under $20. Edward

My scissors jack is new from Walmart at about $23. It lowers to a four inch height and is rated at 3000 lb. You can see it on-line. Regards, Bobby Loughridge

Edward and Bobby, Thank you for your timely responses. I am going to check both sources. Hopefully, one of these will fit into my tool compartment and make life a little easier. Appreciatively, Jerry

A lot of older Nissans/Datsuns had really well-made scissors jacks. Try a salvage yard or ebay. George

George B., Thanks for that suggestion. I will check out a few salvage yards in the Memphis area. Regards, Jerry
