MG TD TF 1500 - Tach rebuild recommendation
I have a 1952 MGTD and it appears the tach is not functioning. I can unscrew cable and I can feel the cable spin. Does anyone know and can recommend someone who rebuilds tachs for this type of car? Thanks Russ

| Russ - If the tach is a flat faced instrument, it will have to go to someone who works on chronometric tachs and speedos. A couple of places that come to mind are Nisoger Instrument www.nisonger.com or MoMa Manufacturing MoMann@aol.com If it is a dish faced unit, justa bout any local speedometer shop can handle it unless it needs parts. | Speedographis richfield in England did mine, cheaper than anywhere here in the states even with the exchange rate. Mine is Chronometric. |

I would second Tom Maine's recommendtion. Speedograph Richfield does a great job, and I have heard negatives very recently about almost all US rebuilders. Slow, not working right, poor paste-on faces, needles that don't match, etc. Tom Lange Bar Harbor, Maine (no connection with Tom Maine)

Could anyone give me an idea what Speedograph might charge to recondition all four gauges from a 1950 TD???
Tom Crause
They did my Speedo and tach, both chronometric, excellent job and for 525.00 american. that was a year ago.

Try Craig Seabrook at the Whitworth shop in Ohio. He rebuilds chronimetric instruments. Terry

On this topic, there is a brand new TF tach on ebay right now. 350 to start, not too bad. Is my TF speedometer chronometric, or magnetic?? thanks Tom '54 TF

Your TF speedo would be magnetic. The Chronometric instruments were only used through the early TD.
