MG TD TF 1500 - Split Rivet Set Tool
I finally found a source for a tool specifically made to properly set split rivets. Check it out. http://macsautoparts.com/model-t-hood-lacing-split-rivet-set-tool-x4060/camid/MDT/cp/YU0RNZFS1000024/ Regards, Rich

I can't immediately remember where they are used on a T-type, other than the engine ID plates. Tom

Ah, yes. Thanks, Butch.

I believe they are on the rebound straps as well.

They hold the Gas tank rubber bumper onto the bracket also.

Split rivets were used to fasten the rear side curtain material to the frames on my TD.

jim, do you think those are original? mine are tube rivets. regards, tom

Mine were split rivets. Tom, only the early TD engines used the split rivets on the bellhousing. Later ones used the drive screws on the block. Bud
Bud Krueger
I dunno Tom. Admittedly the fasteners could have been changed by a PO but the top and side curtains were beat up enough to be original. I bought the TD in January 1962. I replaced the rivets with similar items when I replaced the top and side curtains..

Also the metal floorboard piece on the drivers side of the late TD/TF was held to the wooden floorboard with split rivets. -David

I found them used on the wood strips attached to the fwd area of the rear wheel wells. Mike

The glove boxes on a TF used split rivets to attach the top and back fiber box to the metal. Dan H

D'oh! I just put the glove boxes together with nuts and bolts. Oh well, another winter project now. -David
