MG TD TF 1500 - side curtain issue

I have a problem getting my side curtains fitted on my 54 TF. When they are installed there is about a 3/8 inch gap at the widescreen. I cannot get it to close up. It is tight against the small side window. Does that window need to be taken off to fit the curtains? Also there are no snaps at the bottom of the curtains. Should there be snaps to keep it down tight? hopefully the image will come through and you can better see what I am talking about.

Thanks for any info.

Bud,

I run my side curtains with wind wings in place and do have a bit of a gap. You might play with your wind wing position to see if you can remount them or do something to close up the gap. It is a real hassle to remove/install wind wings just for side curtains. I notice even in downpours, the side curtains function with the gap.

There should be a metal stay in the lower portion of the front side curtain. On the inside of the car, typically on the hidem strip on the door panel a snap stud is mounted. There should be a flap with the button snap to match.

Take a look at my website, http://www.dbraun99.com under the TD15470 restoration and weather equipment and side curtains to find some good pictures and descriptions.

Oh, and if you post new pictures, rather than start a new thread, simply answer your original (this) thread to post additional images.

Good point Steve, and you're welcome!

Bud, I looked at you image, and that is a big gap to fill. Due to the fact the the forward position of the window is fixed by the mounting post and bracket it may be impossible to adjust.
Are you sure, that you have "TF" frames and not TD,as
they are slightly different. Attached is a pic of our TF window fit, which has little or no gaposis.
If you want to see addition pics of the inside and outside I can send them to your directly.

Bud,
putting a shim ( for instance a 2 - 3 mm thick plywood) underneith the mounting post and playing with its angle ( grinding off on one side) will give you lots of opportunities to bring the front windowline in a bit. The attachements of the sidewings are about 4 - 5 mm thick so if you leave them on, this will be the gap. Good luck, Huib
