MG TD TF 1500 - Seatback dilemna

I am in the process of recovering my seats, replacing the non-original black vinyl which the PO added in 2001. The seats were recovered but never installed in the car as the restoration was never completed. My dilemna is with the seatback as the rear panel covering was done with a seperate fiberboard panel (see picture below) which was then attached with small chrome interior panel screws similar to those used on the MGB. My dilemna is that while not original, the look is really good and clean. However, if I remove the vinyl and reuse the fiber panel I may not be able to remove the previous black vinyl piece intact which prevents me from selling the old, but unused, black kit. So, what's the verdict - should I go ahead and recover the correct way or try to re-use the older panel?

...for the cost of a piece of fibreboard, skinply, i would just start over and sell that kit....

It would not be hard to add a section of black for the back. If I were purchasing your kit, I would sew on another piece.

Thanks for the responses - so what is the opinion of the alternative method for finishing the back?
