MG TD TF 1500 - Seat Recovering Question
Can somebody please enlighten me as to how the tonneau bar, starter crank brackets and hinge receptacles are attached to the seat back? My seats had these already removed when I bought it and in fact I think I am missing the tonneau bar altogether. I have been through Dave B's excellent site (many times!) but I couldn't find any reference for these items. I know the hinge brackets, or whatever they are called, use T-nuts, which are already in the seatback. Thanks for the assistance. Don

Wood screws for all but the hinges. There are a few pictures of an original unrestored seat back you could use for placement refrerence here: http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i87/vping/1952%20MG%20TD/ You will likely have to copy/paste the address.

I think when I did mine I made a new seat back and used T nuts for the T bar as well as the hinge brackets. Just wanted the extra strength. Screws only for the starter handle.

Thanks - exactly what I was looking for. Don

Don, There happens to be an extra piece of wood directly behind where the tonneau bar screws go. An inch would not be too much screw to put in. In the MGTD15470 » Interior & Upholstery » Reupholstery section, picture 54 shows the locations almost to scale, and a picture later, the hardware used. warmly, dave
