MG TD TF 1500 - Safety Pin Radiator Mascot

110753240731 is a large safety pin radiator mascot, described by the seller as belonging to an MG, and quoting an auction listing of another one as his source for the MG connection information. The lettering reads, "Safety First" (not "Safety Fast")which I assume means it has nothing at all to do with an MG.

Could it have been for a diaper service truck? Does anyone know more about this thing and a possible MG connection?

I don't think it has anything to do with MG cars. More likely a desk ornament for a safety pin manufacturer.
David Werblow

I agree, I wager it has nothing to do with cars. And, IMHO, it would be an ugly radiator cap ornament.

Stupid me ...guess I should just burn all that "Safety Fast" crap I collected over the years...it was obviously "Safety First" I should have been seeking.
Boy do I feel stupid!
(Maybe just a tad smarter than somebody that shelled out 1400 quid for the last one of these)

I prefer the Bee.

Took some mascot pics at a local car show on the weekend. Here is one of them, on a Delage. (I messed around with the colour settings for a bit of fun).

Matthew - isn't that a Hisso radiator mascot - Hispano Suiza?

....hahahaha.....ok... let me just get off the floor..... there is no way MG would have anything that had 'Safety First' on it...when their well protected and well used phrase 'Safety Fast' was used on everything... That is just an advertising dodad that sat on some desk....probably a first aid kit manufacturer....where do these guys come from.....

A little whimsey

Dallas Congleton

Thats a nice one Dallas.

Tom, its very similar to the Hispano Suiza mascots (maybe even came off one?). Here is a H.S. mascot from the same meet.

Another angle on the Dehuge.

Maybe someone would be able to make a nice hood ornament by sculpting the head of Nigel Shiftright, complete with leather helmet, aviator goggles and his moustauche blown out over his chins by the high speed of his beloved "Four angry cylinders" TC? Made in chromium plated brass with blue LEDs in his eyesockets?
