MG TD TF 1500 - RF interfearance / unshielded ing

Latley been having trouble with the GD opener on the garage.
Strange, never had this before.
Garage door opener will not work in the TF.
Get out of the car and push the button and it works.
Anybody else have this?
Suspect unshielded ingnition interferance?
Will try fresh battery today ...maybe just weak and not strong enough to get through the RF field?
Remote works fine if car is shut down.

I've had the TD in three different garages, and the three different make openers all worked fine! I would think that you are correct about a weakish battery,,,

Willem...hmmm maybe from leaving the remote in the car it has been converted to one of the Lucas operational modes? (intermitten)
Now I'm not sure what way to install the new battery!

Wireless devices can be finicky things. I have a Range Rover which flattens its battery when I park for more than 2-3 days outside the outlaws' house - it doesn't happen anywhere else or at any other time. Doing a bit of research, it seems that the immobiliser/alarm is prone to being "woken-up" by certain wireless devices (weather stations are a prime cause, it seems) and this happens so frequently when they're in range that it flattens the battery.

Or maybe the Rangie is just trying to tell me something?

I minimize the RF interference by using Resistor Sparkplugs.
This helps a lot when we are using Walkie-Talkies radios to keep in touch on a tour.

I use Champion RN5C in my TF 1500

I had a problem with a Garmin GPS unit locking up when in the TC. As Don just said, changing to resistor plugs solved the problem. Used NGK BR6HS in the 1250 TC.
