MG TD TF 1500 - Retaining plate pedal excluder TD
wondering if anyone has pictures or info on the mounting of the retaining plate for the fume excluder on a TD? I am doing a frame up restore and don't see any existing holes for it to mount to the floor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rich Http://www.mgtd.co.nr

I just mounted mine Rich. The raised flange goes forward (behind the pedals) and the holes should match those in the rubber excluder. I just used wood screws into the new wood floor. There were no predrilled holes or anything in the floor plans I used for this plate! There is one hole at about the 1:00 oclock position that looks like it should match with an existing hole in the frame but I could not get alignment so I just went with the nearby wood. There is another threaded hole in the pedal box further aft that looks to be part of the system but my allignement wasn't that precise there either. It's a horrible place to work down there! I'm sure others have done a more precise job than I but mine ain't going anywhere so I'm satisfied and the carpet covers it all. That said I have my doubts if the rubber is going to take the strain of being attached so well to the floor. We'll see. If you need a picture I can probably take one. Let me know. Ed

I always leave the metal retainer off. It is a huge hassle to install, the carpet holds the exluder down regardless, and it makes it much easier to pull up the floor if you need too. Just my two cents.
