MG TD TF 1500 - OT but very interesting...Molenaar
| In the recent thread '61 and still going strong' we talked about Molenaar, a former Dutch car company. They assembled Morris Minors and imported MG's. On YouTube I came across two video's dealing with the process of assembling Morris Minors in the Molenaar factory. By the way, part of the production was badge engineered into Austin... Very interesting. Gives a good insight in the way of assembling CKD's and the workmanship needed! part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=NqW2Bt9Qrq0 and part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=507hLoHySUE Hope these links work... | What a great documentary(s)... certainly more complete then any I've seen of the Abingdon assembly line. Was surprised at the amount of leading (actually, surprised by CKD being so CKD....) and hand bodywork required... of course we are used to seeing spray painting done without masks of any kind (amazing) and the undercoating was interesting...assume a 'tar' type substance? Not much room for dropping the engines in....and seems to be a one man job....! Very interesting.... |

| I love the "road/steering" test drive. I guess if you don't smash somebody on a bike or walking it passed! Thanks for sharring this. |
