MG TD TF 1500 - oil pump by-pass
| I have a 1952 TD engine number 19761 which is undergoing a complete rebuild. My question is does the late oil pump have the by-pass valve which Moss lists as part number 435-060 (diagram number 122) or should it have the other componets which is 329-090,329-530,435-200,435-190.or both? I am trying to determine if the above pieces are missing, lost by the shop, or not used in the later pump, because it does not use the early seperate oil filter? Thanks, Ben |

| Hello Ben. The late style of pump should only have the 435-060. The other parts that you asked about are used only on the early style of pump. In the early pumps if the filter clogged that second set of parts opened the valve to let oil get to the oil galley so you didn't wreck the engine. The later pumps used the by pass valve in the pump. | Thanks Butch, I thought that might be the case from looking at the diagrams. The pump only has a bushing in the hole where the early pump by -pass pieces would be. Just wanted to make sure on such a critical component. Surprised that their isn't more info to seperate what is installed on early pump versus late style. Ben |
