MG TD TF 1500 - Oil pressure gauge

This may be a silly question.

I've read up on oil pump priming but I'm wondering whether there's any need to get oil into the pipe to the oil pressure gauge before start up. Anyone got any words of wisdom please.

It's not necessary, AJ. Pascal's Law covers it. But, if it'd make you feel better, you can undo the end at the gauge and let some oil run out when turning the engine over with the starter. Bud

as bud says...no need to bleed the tube. regards, tom

AJ; Buds got it.
I would also flush the tube with thin oil or mineral spirits to make sure there no "gunky" old oil in the line. Attach the line to the engine then, with the line disconnected at the gauge .... crank the engine over to bleed the line. Make sure you have a big rag in hand!
