MG TD TF 1500 - Oil pressure

Has anyone who fitted a modern spin on oil filter noticed a drop in oil pressure once fitted. at the same time as a rebore re rebuild and I fitted a spin on convertion. 60lb on start up when cold even on tickover this then drops to 40/50Ib when hot at runninig speed but down to 15/20lb on tickover, I'm not sure if it's somthing down to the strip down or the oil filter convertion. I have changed the oil and renewed the filter to see if its the filter but all is the same. I know these pressures are still reasonable but why the sudden change, and has anyone else has this experience when changing to a spin on.

Negative. I installed a Siem conversion a couple years ago and noticed no such change.

Tom,
I have one of Bob Grunau's spin-on adapters on each of my TC's. One hits 60 psi and drops to 50 psi at idle, the other hits 60 psi cold, then drops to 55 psi hot and 20 - 25 psi at idle. I think it's just the clearances in the engine and not the spin on adapters.

Thomas, I had asked a similar question a while back. After switching to the new filter setup my oil pressure takes a moment to build to normal pressure on start up. Before the switch the pressure was almost instantaneous. Not a big deal, but again, a definite change. Having said that once the pressure is up, it acts exactly as it did before. Maybe I can suggest that you switch back to the old system and give it a try as it's an easy change. ..... Chris
