MG TD TF 1500 - Nice looking MGTD on ebay with Datsun engine.
1952 MGTD on ebay with Datsun engine, it will be interesting to see what it sells for? Although no pictures of the engine bay. John 320810683414

I can't get past that tinted windshield being raked back at a steep angle, and that top! -David

Can't see any mention of a Datsun engine in the ad for the white TD in the original post, and there's no engine picture. It has been commented on another thread - that's the car with the funky top installation. The top sits way too low. There are two TD's with Datsun engines specifically mentioned in the descriptions, they are: 280784365983 and 120824387443 BobbyG

280784365983 Starting bid $15,000.00! Datsun engine, auto transmission, needs new top, needs new side curtains, plus how many other things? Sorry but I personally wouldn't give over 12 for it and that's stretching it a mite. I wonder how much was tore up to get that rice burner in there?

I've seen some beautiful engine conversions that are so well done, you'd swear the car was built that way. I've also seen some real hack jobs. It's curious that there are no engine shots of the white TD. I see enough in the top, windshield, paint, body fit and interior to make me walk away from the car without even looking at the engine. Once the engine has been swapped out, That car becomes a custom car, and the resale value becomes quite subjective. Basically the value is whatever the car can fetch, so the value is dependent on how much a perspective buyer thinks it is worth. -David

Based on the red one, the Datsun engine does appear to be a nice conversion. Not sure what the motor mounts look like, but it does not look like any modification to the firewall has been done. That makes it easy to put them back if you have a spare engine/transmission. Unless we get someone remanufacturing our blocks, using other engines may be something we will need to address in the future. I do agree that without an original engine, price would have to be lower.
