MG TD TF 1500 - MG T Car Data Base
| A few years ago I set up an MG T (ABCDF) data base on our club site. I copied information from a number of lists and entered it by hand. There was also a 'submit' button which allowed owners to add their own info. The data base grew to a few thousand entries...I added eBay T's for a couple of years. (entries also went to G Merson's list) At some point a 'bot' got to the site and I was getting about 10 spam entries a day which had to be manually removed so I took the 'submit' part down (wasn't smart enough to figure out a password/security system).... Anyway... I was in contact with Steve James a few times over the last year and we discussed merging my list with his... this has now been done (and although my data base will stay on the club site, it won't update and the duplicate (former owners) entries will be there.... ) the main one is now in Britain and can be accessed at: http://ttypes.org/database (this is the link we have been using for a few months) I'm really pleased to know that the data is growing, and having one main base makes so much sense. If you haven't added your info, go to: http://ttypes.org/database |

| Gordon, Thanks for the helpful "plug" - and can I say again it's an honour and a pleasure to give your T-Numbers list a permanent home on the web at ttypes.org. The T-Database is growing both in size and usefulness; I have started to add cross references to cars for sale adverts, where cars have been featured in TTT or TTT2, Sacred Octagon etc, and any other distinguishing information. A huge task indeed, but one I can do a little bit at a time. Thank you to everyone who has added their car's details and its photo(s) so far - keep 'em coming: http://ttypes.org/database |

| I just sent my TF specs. Hope it goes through. How do I post the photo on the T Type web site with the information? PJ Here's the photo I tried to install on the site.

| Sorry to be negative, but I've had years of dataBase experience, both at the code level and in the much simpler form of the cellular form (Paradox for example). It seems to me that we still have more than one TD/TF dataBase - that in the UK, and George Merson's. Why two?? This is an invitation to complications. Which one is the correct one. Which one becomes the Master dataBase? I'm sitting on about 30 entries. On which dataBase should I enter my data? As I recall, Geroge Merson's is simply a free-form "list", but the MGTABC one is in proper cellular form. I strongly urge Geroge Merson to put his into cellular form, and integrate the data into a Master dataBase ... the one in the UK. Only then, will we have an accurte directory to our cars. | Gord (Clark), As the "new kid on the block" the last thing I want to happen is have people change their databases - which they have spent years carefully maintaining - just to fit mine. Gordon Lawson kindly suggested we merge data as his had been read-only for a while and he wanted the data to have more of a "permanence" on the web, but I think others should continue to do their work indepedently collating T-Series information, not least because people like George collect useful owner information (the T-Database does not). I suggest *I* do the adapting. I would strongly recommend you contimue to send your information to George in the first instance as you would have done before, and then with George's permission, every time George posts a new list (via the T-Talk website), I can merge it into the T-Database periodically. Best Regards, Steve |

| >I just sent my TF specs. Hope it goes through. How do I post the photo on the T Type web site with the information? PJ Thank you Paul - I have uploaded the photo to your record. There should be a button under the photo gallery that reads "Add Photo" to upload pics, but it seems in rare cases it doesn't appear if you have an old version of "Flash" software in your browser. Kind Regards, Steve |

| One of the lists I used was George's...I entered each entry by hand into my database...I used the MGTABC site info to add A/B/Cs and a list from Australia for TF's...each entry made into mine by owners was sent automatically by email to George...so ours should be within a few cars of each other....With mine merged with Steve's it should be pretty well complete.... If your worried Gord, just send the info to both....safer that way....who knows in 50 years where all the lists will be.... I know Tom has MKII's pretty well complete...not sure if all of those have been entered or not? |
