MG TD TF 1500 - MG PA Special
Check out this 1934 PA Special. I would love something like this http://www.prewarcar.com/classifieds/ad57732.html

Can only guess what they are asking.

| ... been around for a while.. I'll wager it has to be in the $100,000 bracket. A very high technical spec including a blower and a preselector g/b. Its a near copy of the famous PA1667 'Leonidis' that won its class, up-rated to PB specs for the 1939 LeMans. From what I could research, PA 1268 started life as a 4-seater. The restoration was started sometime after 2000. According to the Triple M Directory, it belongs (or did belong) to James Alcorn. Because its so different, I'll bet he has a tough time selling it. Especially since it doesn't have any history. People that cobble up these specials by dumping buckets of money into a conversion, just don't think of that. There were just 33 original K3 Magnettes, and to find an original today, means big bucks. For the record, "over 70 K3 Magnettes survive today". Doesn't make sense, but its true! PA 1268 is too far away from an original PA spec for my liking, and not something I'd feel comfortable about, driving on the street on a daily basis. So its all yours Bruce !!! | ....just read an article on the PA .... loved the line '33 were produced and 70 still exist..." |

"33 were produced and 70 still exist" I believe the same thing is going on with TF1500's! Can't even remember how many I looked at that I suspected (and/or determinded) where actually 1250's. For that matter this seams to be something that happens across the board on cars. There seems to be a lot of 67/68 Firebirds & Cameros out there with big V-8's ...very few 6 cyc's. When was the last time you saw an old Chevy Malibu that didn't have "SS396" id plates all over it? I'm about over reading between the lines on some adverts. i.e. "model/year correct engine". Translation: I stuck an old big block in my 6cyc car so I "want" an extra $20k for my $700 investment.

One more shot... It still belongs to Jim Alcorn at the Auto Vintagery.

Dave, Easy to tell a TF1500 fake. Just look for the 'W' in the diamond, cast into the XPEG block. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué.

uggg on the wiring of the PA. A high school kid could do better. Cheers, Bob

Steve, I jest not. Can anybody on the BB pls confirm? I have some pix, but they are on an archive drive that frankly, I don't feel like digging out. If you don't have the W in the diamond, you don't have an XPEG. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué.

Read Dick Knudson's article in the new TSO about the duplicate K3's. One car was most of the original put on a new frame at the fatory, the other from the repaired original frame and parts, etc. Then there were two. George

Gordon, This is to confirm that my XPEG block has the W in the diamond, low on the block behind the generator. My XPAG block has the MG logo above where the W is located in the XPEG. George

Agreed Gord, I misread your comment. I've kept on file an interesting explanation by Roger Wilson for the MG Car Club 'T' Register Magazine. I can post in a separate thread, if anyone would like to see it.
Steve Gee
I'd like to see it. Please. Always interested in ID'ing XPEG blocks. Cheers, Bob
