OK, I give up. Please help me out of the cloud of unknowing. Who is Irene? IanB
Ian Bowers
Irene is going to give the Eastern Coast of the US a hell of a blow job.
G.E. Love
Hopefully she will move well East. 4-5 days ago we were in the middle of the track cone here in central Florida, so you do have hope. George
George Butz

The car display had something like 6 cars. Both TCs were EXUs, what are the chances of that? I think there were 27 people at the banquet, counting the 9 of us (mom, dad, wife, two boys and three nieces... long story) We left for Vermont at 6 this morning. Rain was light with occasional heavy showers. Tolls were suspended on the Mass Pike (yea! Saved me $1.10). One street light was down on I90. One tree was down across I 89 near Montpellier. Very light traffic. The wind and the rain picked up this afternoon. Over six inches in Vermont with extensive flooding. Fortunately, we still have power. I'm glad we all got home without incident. -David

| We have friends who's house is on the waterfront in New Jersey and they were evacuated 50 miles inland. We don't know how they made out, as their not allowed back until Tuesday. Must be devastating for them not knowing if their possessions were saved. As you can understand, for some, loss of life, for others, loss of a lifetime of memories are gone. Not much to joke about. | I feel for those who've suffered loss and destruction at the hands of Irene. I've only once experienced a Hurricane - Jeanne, which came right over the top of us when we were on holiday in the Dominican Republic in 2004, as a Cat 1, but later intensified over the Bahamas as a Cat 3 before weakening as it hit Florida. It then ran up the eastern US states as a tropical storm before crossing the Atlantic as a extra-tropical storm and caught us in the UK the day we returned home! The point is, the experience was terrifying - with almost unbelievable wind strengths and rainfall intensities. I never want to experience that again and sympathise greatly with those who live with the threat each summer. It's been a cool and cloudy summer here - not what we were used to up to a couple of years ago, and not enough opportunity for open-topped motoring. But I've made lots of progress on the TD and would like to thank everyone for their help. Unlike some, I also thoroughly enjoy the "bus-stop chatter" on the Board and long may that continue. Yesterday to my great relief, I cured the "jangling-chain" noise from the starter bendix, following a good look at the archives. There's still lots to do, but it would be really boring were it all otherwise. Keep well. - Tom. |

Boy! What a difference a day makes. Power kept flickering off and on until ten last night when it went out. It is still out, and will be for some time as Richmond and all roads going to and from are under water now. Vermont lost one life, a 21 year old woman swept away by rising water. We also lost three historic wooden covered bridges. Ive got no electricity, phone or water, but no major damage. Some minor washouts and a few trees fell. The MG is still on the truck, it was raining to hard to unload yesterday. -David.

Just found out last night that our friends in New Jersey who live on the waterfront, returned home and found no damage! The surge brought water within inches of entering the house but alls well. Lucky to say the least, others didn't fair so well. PJ

Here in Rockburn, we got slammed with 161 mm of rain (abt. 6½ inches) in 18 hours. So much so, it showed up the weaknesses in my roof. So for the second time in a year, money headed for the PA, goes into something more urgent. All 4 Clark MGs were under cover on high ground. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué.

I got an uncle that had a leaky roof Gord. I was over there one time and I asked him why he didn't fix the leak. He said "when it's raining I can't fix it". "And when it ain't raining it don't need fixed". That was the end of that subject.
LaVerne
Abingdon Spares was spared (sorry for the pun). Across the river from them (VT) was not so fortunate. Bud
Bud Krueger
LaVerne, I didn't know you had a uncle here in Perry county! That's soooo Hootersville!
