MG TD TF 1500 - Hubs and drums
Hello All: I am in the process of getting my mother's 1950 TD back in roadworthy condition. She has owned it since 1960, but it has spent most of the past 20 years in storage. Currently, I'm working on the brakes, and am looking for a source for hubs and drums for steel wheels. Thanks in advance, Randall

Abingdon Spares has reconditioned fronts and new (for a small fortune) rears. Do you have the old ones? Pretty easy to recondition, unless the splines are chewed up on the rears. Pretty often on ebay as well, for better or worse seems many cars are being parted out. George

I agree with George - these are not normally wear items. Drums don't even usually need to be turned; a quick swipe with emery paper and they are good. Do let us know more aboout the issues involved. Tom Lange Bar Harbor, Maine

If your drums are in decent shape you can put an adapter on that is the hub for wire wheels. Moss has them available and I'm sure others do also. A lot will depend on your budget. If your drums are really bad (see Tom's comment above) you can get the complete conversion kit from Moss also.

I have the old ones. They are probably fine to use, but I hate not having a backup part for something that is NLA. Also, the drums have a number of chips out of them from prior attempts to free frozen drums (I swear it wasn't me). I really don't ever want to go the wire wheel route. Just out of curiosity, do the MGA 1500 hubs or drums, front or rear, fit? Thanks for all the quick responses! Randall

Disc wheeled MGAs are 4 bolt pattern wheels and TD/TF are 5 bolt pattern so not interchangeable.
