MG TD TF 1500 - Horn Relay
| We are going to install a horn relay in the TF. Certainly, this isn't unique, so we were wondering if any of you had advice about which relay to use or where you purchased yours. Are there any specifications that need to be considered? We assume that our positive earth will not be a problem... true? Is there any appreciable difference in the mechanical delay of relays, such that when using the horn for a friendly "beep-beep", it comes across as an insistent "beeeeeeeeep-beeeeeeeeep"? Dick Lambert, you have a post about this in the archives (with a picture of your battery of relays). Is it working as you expected? Would you have done anything differently? On the road to over-complicating the very simple... again. Safety? Fast? Scott Ashworth - '54 TF |

| Scott, The relays have worked great. I took apart the horn switch and it was pretty well contact burned. This whole circuit drove me crazy with two always hot wires going to the very nose of the car, incredible! It is not hard to swap the wires to a normal power on with the button operation. The relays shown are a standard Radio Shack, NAPA, Advance item,- rated at 30 amps and easily mounted or changed out.
