MG TD TF 1500 - help finding recent post
Hi all, I'm installing a new ig. warning light this winter and I remember a recent post that spoke of some difference in the new ones vs. original. Can't seem to find it in the many posts on this topic. Anyone remember it? It's snowing! Ed

Sorry about the snow, Ed! The sun is out and it is in the mid 40's here in Cortez. Sorry I can't help with the ignition light thread.

I installed a new low gas level light and socket just a couple of months ago. The new socket was from Moss and it is the same socket as the ignition light uses. There was no difference from the original to the reproduced one. Mind you the resistance wire was covered with a clear tape in the repro. Other than that they were the same. I think I have seen the other post and I think it covered a modification of using an electronics resistor instead of the fine wire. (The wire is so fine it is easily damaged) I will look again and send you the link.

I recently repaired one that was missing the resistance wire by placing a .48 ohm resistor in series with the light, mounted on the socket. It allows the use of the 2.2 Volt lights originally supplied. Suposedly ones that are set up to use higher voltage lights can burn the lenses on the indicators. warmly, dave
