MG TD TF 1500 - Hello from vping
| I recently posted over on a few sites about an electrical problem for a B. Then I was asked about how my TD was coming along and I responded. I've been thinking about updating everyone over here for sometime as I have been working on a TD althought it was not mine. I've wanted to post about what I was doing to that TD because locally there has been a stir about it but word has not spread too far from home...yet. I'll update as soon as I have 100% success and the car has arrive with the owner. I did want to re-ensure everyone who helped me with parts that I still have them all and my TD WILL be done one day. I picked up another truckload of TD parts and have just about all I need to get 'er done. Here is where I am with the TD for all who have paid attention to my TD over the years. "Ahh one of my kids" The TD project has stalled because of all the other work. I pulled the engine to replace the wiring, engine and trans mounts. While it was out, I sent the trans to Quantum and he checked it out with and OK she's in good nic. While the engine was out, I decided to check a bearing. Turns out the engine was rebuilt at some point and is +.060". Seemed like a recent rebuild but when I checked the bearings the lead was fluffing off a bit, so I decided to swap them out. New head gasket, timing chain and gears, MOSS Cranks seal and speedy sleeve, you just the normal stuff :-) Once I get her back in she'll be great. Lets see rebuilt one rear leaf spring and replaced all bushings. Started to rewire the car and then this other TD came into the picture for me to work on. Plus more. Another local TD owner wanted me to fabricate and weld some patches on his TD body parts as part of his restoration, so I did. Over last winter I traded a 1980 MGB for garage work. My garage is finally insulated and sheetrocked. Bought a bigger compressor and did some sandblasting for someone else. More work on a '65 B for another local member. I posted over on the MGE about an engine I built and then was asked to restore his engine bay. Pics are over there....and I'm losing track of what else I've been working on. Next up is a 1948 TC restoration. Another Clutch job and I have 2 to 3 engine builds lined up. Here is why the TD project has stalled. What can I say, I like helping people out with their projects. I'll hopefully be getting to it soon. Cheers Vince |

| Thanks for the update. Your picture documentation before taking the TD apart is still helping us. Sounds like a lot of fun projects! George |
