MG TD TF 1500 - Getting out and driving your T

Just got home from a two week jount to the northwest. About 2700 miles. Add that to the Rallye to Reno trip and local driving and I've put about 9000 miles on the TF this year. How about you?

Little mishaps..... lost a fan belt in Montana ( good to carry a spare).... carb float went craps in Oregon (good to know car gear heads when out of town)....lost my car keys at a fuel stop in Idaho.... good to pack a jumper wire with alligator clips in your tool box ( thanks for the suggestion Dan and the help). Called the fuel stop and they found the keys I couldn't after retracing my steps 4 times and 20 minutes. Coming to me in the mail next week.

Good to see beautiful country and the open road.

Thanks to John for putting me up and beer. Good to meet Alex and talk MGs with him and John. Good people out in this world if you drop your shield.

Laverne,
You have a hidden key in a late TD or TF.
Remove the horn fuse and reinsert it between th horn fuse clips and the ignition switched fuse clips, thus connecting the hot always horn wire to the ignition switched wire if you don't have a clip lead handy.

Did get a round of golf in with my buddy in Oregon between rainstorms. Did I mention I took my clubs just for that reason.

...been the best driving season in the 7 years i've had the TD... an 1800 mile trip to the East coast of Canada in June...many club runs, a trip to our Fall GOOF (couple hundred miles return) and on Tuesday, I'm getting in the TD and heading, well, I don't quite know where, but it will be north west and last three or so days....Should have about 3000 miles more then it had this spring....

Glad you made it back in good shape. Loved the photos, especially that wide tie you were wearing, way back when. Looking back at the "way we were" is always fun, and sometimes surprising. Great set of photos and thanks for posting. Next summer I should be on the road too. Expect a visit? We'll see.

Like smaller ties? Who is this guy?

LaVerne

Way too cool, LaVerne. Looks like black bow ties were the thing back then.

LaVerne,

Looks like I might be driving by days end tomorrow! It was great to meet you and I look forward to taking you up on the colorado visit. I've never been there, but the postcards always look nice.

LaVerne, loved the YouTube! Thanks for posting it. Almost thought of driving over there for the show a few weeks ago but had just returned from England. Did you enter or were you on the road?

We put on 5,400 miles this season, that includes a few weeks off to rebuild the gearbox. Of course, the season ain't over yet, but we will probably store the car in the next 500 miles or so. I won't touch LaVerne's numbers, but 6,000 miles a season is about average for us.

This year, we garnered the longest distance to the GOF Central, and still took third place in popular vote judging. Attached is a pic from our travels, it's Oshkosh, the airshow, on our way to GOF, two days there for business.

Gentlemen, drive your cars. That's what they were made for.

I made it LaVerne! This is us down by the Puget Sound about 20 minutes ago. Had her out on the free way. I dig the new 4.3 and I have to say, I'm starting to notice the differences with the sway bar. I LIKE. FUN!
