MG TD TF 1500 - gear box repair
We've discovered that my car would drive much more quietly if 1st gear and the cluster gear were replaced. 1st gear I can find. Any one have any ideas or leads on a cluster gear(used) as opposed to the Moss Abingdon sets that cost dearly.?

What kind of noise does it make? The straight cut first/reverse are always noisy to some degree.

I michel, E-mail me at markrstrang@yahoo dot com. I've got a good used cluster gear and perhaps we could come together on a reasonable price. Mark

John Needham of Gearspec City in Melbourne Ph 0061305533203 can repair the cluster & supply & new 1st gear. Much cheaper & better than new.

Any idea as to what it costs to repair first gear only on a TD cluster gear. Would it be reasonable enopught to send one from USA?

Check with John Esposito at Quantum Mechanics first. He may be able to help you. http://www.quantumechanics.com Might be worth contacting John Twist, as well. I took his gearbox rebuild seminar some years ago. Came home with a rebuilt TD 'box and a great experience. I don't know if he is doing this in his new incarnation, though. http://universitymotorsltd.com/
