MG TD TF 1500 - Gas Tank Rehab-LAST CALL

Hve been putting off cleaning and sealing gas tank ( recent paint job) finally going to bite the bullit have read all the archives. Just checking for last time before I purchasae a cleaning/sealing system for lastest update considering the ethanol versus coating debate. Has anyone used any newer product lines or had any recent bad experiences this is ajob I don't want to repeat or create a disaster. Any input considered and appreciated

I have been very pleased with the system I used three years ago. There have been no signs of any degradation of the sealer or other symptoms that would suggest gunk drifting into the fuel bowl or carburetors.

I sealed my TD tank in 1979 with whatever Moss was selling at the time and have not had any problems since even with the new formula fuels.

I used the POR system available at the local parts store---cost 79$------worked well so far------

I used the Eastwood system on my TD 7 or 8 years ago. The inside of my tank was horribly rusty. I have not had any problems since. The one change that I made was to double the concentration of muriatic acid in the cleaning phase. It left the tank totally silver inside.

I use the Eastwood 20 yeas ago and feel very confident with it. I spilled so of the coating after the cleaning and etching and the coating is there forever I think

In the old motorcycle world, the Caswell Gas Tank Sealer is the one that gets the nod to avoid the problems showing up with other types and ethanol. Google it.
