MG TD TF 1500 - front and rear hub nut torque settings
I know this has been discussed BUT-----ready to put the wheels back on '53 TD----front hub nuts torque --40-70 lbs?----rear--80 lbs then next slot?----i am too old and weak to get 150 lbs on the rear---would prefer lower torque but am not convinced that 80 lbs is correct-----thanks is advance--------

I use the notoriously-inaccurate-but-all-I've-got method of tightening the rears down as tight as I can, then the nearest slot to line up the nut; on the fronts I tighten down quite a bit, then spin to see if it still feels OK. To line things up I sometimes need to loosen just a tad, but never to the point where there is ANY bearing play at all. Hey, it works for me! Tom

thanks tom--appreciate it----I have a '28 Chevy truck and the torque specs for the head bolts are "a strong pull on a 9 inch wrench"----so I like your suggestion-- sort of like--ream it down until it breaks and then back off 1/2 turn-----

....half a turn before it breaks was what i was always told....
